Castrol Perfecto HT 5 is based on a solvent-refined, high viscosity index mineral oil specially selected for its high thermal and oxidation stability.

Application:

Perfecto HT 5 is primarily intended for use in closed heat transfer systems with bulk temperatures up to 300ºC. It can also be used in open systems at much lower bulk oil temperatures.

Perfecto HT 5, because of its solvency and high thermal stability serves as excellent Turbine Flushing oil.

What is the maximum operating temperature of Castrol Perfecto HT 5?

Oil bulk temperature between -10 °C and +310 °C in closed systems with nitrogen blanket or sealed expansion. Film temperature on tube walls is limited to 320 °C to preserve nominal oil life.

Do I need to dry out moisture when starting a new installation?

Yes, always. During the first hours ramp the temperature gradually up to 105 °C and hold it until the oil runs clear without bubbling. This evaporates residual water that would cause pump cavitation and premature oil degradation.

How often should I analyse thermal oil?

Annually as a minimum, or earlier on signs of degradation (colour change, acidic smell, increased make-up). The analysis should include viscosity at 40 °C, total acid number (TAN), Conradson carbon residue, flash point and insolubles. Castrol offers a LabCheck programme with hot sampling.

Can I mix it with other thermal fluids?

Not recommended. Mineral, aromatic and synthetic thermal fluids have different base chemistries; mixing can precipitate additives and cut fluid life by more than half. When changing product, drain the circuit completely and flush with the new oil before putting it back in service.
