Antifrogen N is the monoethylene glycol option for closed heating, heat pump and industrial cooling circuits. If the installation is linked to food or pharmaceutical production, or needs a monopropylene glycol base, compare the solution with Antifrogen L 25L.
Which Antifrogen is suitable for food or pharmaceutical industry? Review Antifrogen L, based on monopropylene glycol. Antifrogen N is the monoethylene glycol version for general industrial thermal circuits.
Which Antifrogen N formats are available? Lubricalia links the Antifrogen N 2L, 25L and 207L / 230Kg formats in this product family.
Antifrogen® N is a high-performance heat transfer fluid and antifreeze manufactured by Clariant, based on monoethylene glycol with long-lasting anti-corrosion additives.
Check concentration annually. Performance monitoring every 1-2 years. Storage stability: 2 years in original sealed container.
Note: Antifrogen® N is not suitable for food or pharmaceutical applications. For these uses, please use Antifrogen® L.
From -38 °C to +150 °C depending on the dilution with demineralised water. At 50 % in water it protects against freezing down to -38 °C and can be heated up to 150 °C in a closed pressurised system. Higher concentrations lower the freezing point further but increase viscosity.
No. Antifrogen N is based on monoethylene glycol (MEG) and corrosion inhibitors; it is not certified for food contact. For circuits in indirect contact with food or pharmaceuticals use Antifrogen L, which is based on propylene glycol and approved for those applications.
Demineralised or distilled water only. Tap water contains calcium, magnesium and chlorides that react with the inhibitor package, reducing fluid life and causing deposits in heat exchangers. If only tap water is available, confirm with Lubricalia a maximum hardness of 3 °dH.
In a leak-free, air-free closed system with pH kept between 8.5 and 9.5, Antifrogen N can operate for 10 years or more. Analyse pH, alkaline reserve and MEG concentration annually. The minimum concentration for inhibitors to work is 20 % by volume.
