It is a semiliquid mixture of hydrogenated raw materials (oils, waxes, and paraffins) with well-defined CAS numbers. It appears as a soft, translucent, and unctuous mass to the touch. It is odorless and tasteless. Vaseline is compatible with oils and various products incorporated into cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations.
PROPERTIES
Vaselines are hydrophobic and serve as an excipient in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries: ointments (where the active ingredient should remain on the skin), a base for laxatives, ophthalmic ointments, creams, ointments. Vaselines are also used as a protective and lubricating product in the food and pharmaceutical industry. Due to its properties, it is especially suitable for protecting battery terminals.
